Frequently Asked Questions about the Optibike Loki
What is the “Gen 2” Frame design?
The Gen 2 Frame is a complete redesign focused on rider comfort and system efficiency. It features a lower standover height, making it easier to get on and off the bike, especially when carrying gear on the rear rack. It also introduces a dedicated Quick-Swap Battery system and improved internal routing for a cleaner, more durable build.
How is the PowerStorm “Whisper” different from the standard motor?
The PowerStorm Whisper utilizes the same legendary gear-driven durability and 190Nm of torque as our standard motors but features a re-engineered mounting interface and housing. This design dampens vibration and sound, resulting in a quieter motor that runs cooler thanks to improved heat dissipation properties.
What is the range of the Loki?
The Loki comes with a 1,440Wh battery, which is roughly double the size of a standard e-bike battery. While range varies by terrain, this massive capacity allows for significant long-distance touring. For multi-day expeditions, the Quick-Swap feature allows you to carry a spare battery and switch it out in seconds without tools.
Is the Loki good for climbing hills?
Absolutely. With 1600W of power and 190Nm of torque, the Loki offers industry-leading climbing capability. The optimized heatsink on the Gen 2 frame ensures the controller stays cool even during long, steep ascents in hot weather.
